Accepting the Liebster Award!
Good Morning! Hope everyone’s Monday is off to a great start! Mine, well… it’s been a rough start. With leaving behind my cell phone and having to turn around and go get it, forgetting to take my meds and vitamins and then squishing a bug into my hair (and by into I mean seriously INTO it- now I have gucky sticky stuff I have to go wash out) it hasn’t been the most fun start. HOWEVER- I do have one piece of exciting information! I have been nominated for the Liebster Award! It’s award given to new bloggers by another blogger as a way of offering support and encouragement in this new blogging world!
To those of you who aren’t familiar with the Liebster Award, here is a brief overview:
The Liebster Award is to be understood as similar to a chain letter, in the sense that bloggers pass it along to other bloggers, acknowledging their work. Within the blogging community, the award encourages growth and networking.
THE RULES
1. Post your award to the blog.
2. Thank the blogger who nominated you and link their blog.
3. Answer the questions you were given by the person who nominated you.
4. Nominate a small group of other bloggers you’ve recently discovered.
5. Create 10 new questions for the nominees to answer.
I was nominated by Suzie from TheGreenCupboard.net! Thanks Suzie!
And so, I accept the award (yay) by answering Suzie’s questions:
1- If you found yourself on an otherwise deserted island, and stumbled upon two other bloggers, who would you wish those two to be? Well, considering I am a D.I.Y. Blogger, I would absolutely love for one to be one of the sisters from A Beautiful Mess! Ideally it would be both 🙂 Their stuff is just amazing. And I’d also would love Paloma Contreras from La Dolce Vita. Her stuff is just so chic.
2-If you could give one nugget of truth that has helped you along the way, to other new bloggers, what would it be? I’d say connect with another blogger who is on the same level as you. Together you can partner and push yourself to grow. It also helps for when you’re feeling discouraged!
3-What advice do you have for getting good photos of your work? I am thankful to have great natural lighting in my bedroom- so many of my photos are taken there, or outside. I say try to always use natural lighting to take your photos as opposed to using the flash on your camera. Also, make time to take the photos during the morning light. I work during the day, so I make time on my weekends to take photos of most of my projects during the best time of day.
4-What inspires you? When you feel like you’re out of things to create/post about, what do you do? I am inspired by many things! It can be as simple as picking up a store catalog or looking through Pinterest- all of those visual things give me ideas and help jumpstart my project list. If I feel like I’m running out of ideas, I usually look around my place to see what needs updating OR I check the calendar to see what holiday or special day is coming up.
5- Describe you ideal weekend. My ideal weekend would be to have the time, space and supplies to craft and DIY to my heart’s content, all day long! And everything to come out exactly as I picture it in my head 🙂
6- Do you have any writing advice? How do you engage your readers? This is one question that I myself am still working on. When you’re a new blogger it’s tough to feel like your connecting to who’s reading- especially if you compare yourself to bloggers that have been at it for a long time. For now I am learning to infuse my writing with more of me and my personality and touching base with others on social media.
7- Tips for getting your name out there. How do you expand your network? I recently had the privilege of attending a blogging conference. At first I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I realized quickly the power of making connections and establishing relationships. In the blogging world this is huge since everyone sits behind a screen and doesn’t get to go out there to actually meet people. To those asking about expanding network, I say sign up for a conference in your area!
8- What descriptive words do you want to come to people’s minds when they first see your blog? I want people to say: fresh, inspiring, fun, useful, and addictive!
9- Where do you see yourself and your website in 5 years? I see myself as a FULL-TIME blogger- blogging and creating content and ideas for everyone to use.
10- Outside of blogging, what are your passions? Blogging encompasses many of my passions- but I love Jesus, l love serving as a co-leader for my homegroup, I love helping local teens at the high school, and I love writing!
And now- I get to nominate TWO other new bloggers! They are two amazing food bloggers:
Kaleigh from LivelyTable.com
AND
Christine from Jaroflemons.com
I love food and these two sure inspire me to try new dishes.
These are my questions for them:
- What inspired you to start blogging?
- What, to you, makes a blog successful?
- If you could choose another blogging niche besides your current one, what would it be?
- What has been your biggest creating/crafting fail?
- Where do you get your inspiration for your posts?
- Which has been your favorite post?
- Advice for a brand new blogger?
- Top 3 favorite blogs?
- What do you have yet to learn from the blogging world?
- Where do you see yourself and your blog in 5 years?
Can’t wait to read these answers! Have a great day!
