Moisturizing Lotion Bars
It’s finally a little chilly here in Dallas! I’m not a fan of the cold, but I do respect the seasons so if it’s winter then it’s supposed to be cold. If you’re in the northeast then I feel so sorry for you! I can’t imagine the frozen tundra you’re experiencing. Besides the fact that the cold is well, cold, I also hate that my skin and hair do weird things during the dry winter season. It’s bad enough that it takes me 20 mins just to bundle up, but throw in super chapped hands and static hair and it makes for a not-good feeling. If you know what I’m talking about (or if you’re in the snow-pocalypse) then you’ve got to try these uber moisturizing lotion bars!
They are simple to make and they’re a great Valentine’s Day gift idea! Yes, we have to start thinking about Valentine’s because, if you didn’t know, February is next week! Ah!
Okay so you’ll need:
1/2 cup of cocoa butter / 2/3 cup of beeswax 1/2 cup of coconut oil 10-20 drops of essential oils like Lavender or Eucalyptus / 1 teaspoon of Vitamin E oil (optional) / silicone nonstick mold
Start by combining the beeswax, coconut oil, cocoa butter and vitamin e oil in a glass measuring cup. Place the measuring cup in a saucepan with 1-2 inches of boiling water.
Stir the ingredients until they are all fully melted. I used a skewer to stir. Remove the glass from the heat and add your essential oils.
You can also add dried lavender or dried rose petals etc. Stir and slowly pour into a silicone nonstick mold.
Let the mixture harden for 2 to 3 hours. Now you can pop those suckers out!
It’s such a great git! All you have to do is store them with parchment paper and seal in a tin can or mason jar.
To use, just rub on any area that needs some loving! Don’t use them in the shower though, or they’ll melt!
