Time for a festive tablescape treat that can be used even after the holidays are over! I Most of the DIY’s I’ve been making are definitely for the Christmas season, but this one is a really great one to have for just the normal every day. There are tons of dinner parties going on and I figured that this candlestick holder can make one pretty centerpiece.
DIY Candlestick Holder
To start off, you’ll need a few materials that you might not have on hand, so a trip to the home improvement store might be necessary. I actually had everything on hand RANDOMLY. I’ve been staring at these copper pipe couplings wondering what I should do with them. I COULD use them as they are meant to be used but pfft, who wants that?! I knew that they could hold candles well, but how to put it all together. After putting some brain to it- here’s what I got!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 5 Copper Pipe Couplings like these
- A wooden block at 8 inches long
- Marble contact paper like this
- Hot glue gun and glue
- stain/varnish if needed
- exacto knife
- Sand your wooden block and stain or varnish the sides of the block. I originally wanted a very natural wood look, but the wood was an ugly greenish color so I stained it lightly.
2. Next, measure out your contact paper. You’re going to want the paper to overlap the sides at least half an inch or so. This can get tricky, people! I didn’t realize that the curved edge of my block was going to mess some things up so make sure you measure well!
3. If you do mess up a little, as I did on the overlapping short sides, you can either take your exacto knife and trim the contact paper so that everything is even OR you can add another small strip of paper on top. Make sure you cut a tiny slit at an angle on the edges so that they can fold over well. It’s like wrapping a present.
4. Once the contact paper is on, you’ll want to add your pipes. Take your hot glue gun and place the glue directly on the pipe trying to stay either exactly on the bottom edge and a little in the inside of the pipe. The plan is to not have much glue squeezing out on the visible side of the pipe.
5. Once all the pipes are on, take your exacto knife and trim off any glue that might have squeezed out. Be careful to not also take the contact paper off!
Finally, add your candles and marvel at the easy DIY that can make any home, mantel or dinner table brighter! So chic!
You can always change the number of pipes!
Maybe make one loooooong one with twelve candle holders!
Or a two-person one! This DIY is pretty customizable.
I hope you enjoy with friends and family!

Lovely! Thanks for sharing! I look forward to making some.
